David Newell Patterson, 57, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

David was a native of Halifax County, the son of the late Ollie Newell Patterson and Geraldine Elizabeth Johnson Patterson. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School, Class of 1974.

He is survived by four daughters, Aleisha Pearcey and her husband, Bubba, Allison Coleman and her husband, Jamele, Ashley Boseman and Andrea Boseman, all of Roanoke Rapids; seven grandchildren, Jaime Pearcey, Alexis Pearcey, Maliesha Edmonds, Jamario Edmonds, Jay Coleman, Jasmine Coleman, and Leanna Carroll; one great-grandson, Aden Turner; his sister, Kay Starbird and her husband, Rodney, of Chesapeake, VA; three brothers, Ray Patterson and his wife, Donna, and Timmy Patterson, all of Roanoke Rapids, and Buster Patterson and his wife, Lorraine, of Savannah, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and other times at 947 Great Falls Circle, Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Church of Christ in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Billy Meinsen officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
